Top Hunt Seat Teams and Riders Qualify for the 2025 IHSA National Championship at Eight Zone Finals
The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) held eight Zone Finals across North America from March 29 to April 6. These premier hunter seat competitions determined the teams and individual riders advancing to the 2025 IHSA National Championship, which will take place at the indoor complex at Tryon International in Mill Spring, North Carolina, May 2–4.
In Remembrance - Gerald "Gerry" Chasin
Gladys, Va. – April 3, 2025 – Gerald "Gerry" Chasin's lifelong passion for horses began as a young man at Lynn's Riding Center in Forest Hills, New York. What started as a pastime quickly became a defining part of his life. He became a pillar of the equestrian community, most notably as one of the founders of the North Shore Equestrian Center. Despite a busy career in finance, Chasin devoted his free time to running the barn, shaping it into a thriving hub for riders of all levels.
Black Hawk College, St. Andrews University and the University of Findlay Team Champions of Three NRHA/IHSA Western Semi-Finals
Gladys, Va.– March 20, 2025 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) held its Western Semi-Finals, sponsored by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), March 15-16. The three events were hosted by the Black Hawk College (Galva, Illinois), West Texas A&M University (Canyon, Texas) and the members of Zone 3 hosted at Dream Park of Gloucester County (Logan Township, New Jersey).
Stewards' Corner Newsletter- March 2025
Our IHSA Board of Directors met in Orlando for our Annual Meeting in January where we conduct the majority of the organization’s business each year. One of the things that came out of that meeting was for the National Stewards to periodically send out a “Stewards Corner” update to our membership. The purpose of this update is to ensure everyone is aware of what is going on with our organization.
In Remembrance: Claiborne Bishop
Gladys, Va. – Feb. 11, 2025 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association’s (IHSA) leadership expressed their sadness by the passing of Claiborne Bishop. Martha Claiborne Smith Bishop was a dedicated rider, trainer, coach, revered horsewoman and honored IHSA leader.

Peter and Sherry Cashman Retire From USMA West Point Equestrian
Gladys, Va. – Nov. 25, 2024 – After nearly four decades at the helm of equestrian operations at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York, Peter and Sherry Cashman have officially retired.
