The IHSA is proud to recognize outstanding achievements by its members outside the arena or show pen.

IHSA QUIET CHAMPION AWARD

The IHSA is dedicated to promoting sportsmanship, horsemanship and academic excellence. While there is a focus on competitive success, many riders join the IHSA for the opportunity to be part of a team and to strengthen their horsemanship and riding skills. There may be riders who do not compete as often as they would like for various reasons, but continue to show up for their riding and their team. This award recognizes those quiet champions. 

Coaches are encouraged to consult with their team captains to identify deserving nominees. Nominations should include specific examples of how the riders show commitment to their riding, their team and demonstrations of sportsmanship. 

Selection Process: Nominations will be accepted throughout the year, from September 1 through February 15. All nominations must be submitted through the IHSA website.  Winners, one per discipline, will be announced by May 1. This award recognizes an IHSA rider who may not have achieved significant success in competition but demonstrates, through their actions, a commitment to their horsemanship and their team. Nominations should be submitted by the team coach. Coaches may submit one nomination per discipline. The award will be presented annually to one rider per discipline at the IHSA National Championship.

IHSA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SPIRIT AWARDS

The IHSA will recognize the hunter seat and Western teams that exhibit exceptional sportsmanship, enthusiasm and volunteerism at the National Championship. This award celebrates teams that help make the National Championship a positive, supportive environment and promote camaraderie and high morale.
